How to change your CWSL network password
How To Change Your CWSL Network Password
Information Technology recommends changing your password frequently. We
recommend changing your password:
- if you suspect someone knows your password (i.e. watched you type it,
- at the beginning of each trimester
- before leaving the country, or going on sabbatical, etc.
- when you are prompted by Windows that your current password will soon
"expire" (you must change your password at least every six months).
We recommend that you change your password from your office computer during
regular working hours. If a problem arises, we can help by resetting your
password. However, it is possible to change your password remotely as well.
Below we outline the steps for changing your password from your office computer,
and remotely from a non-CWSL computer (your notebook computer, home computer, a
friend's computer, etc.).
Before changing your password, please review the
Password Policy and Guidelines document.
Changing Your Password From Your Office Computer
While logged into Windows from your office desktop computer, press Ctrl-Alt-Del

Click on the Change a Password option.

You must enter your old password, enter a new password and then re-type your new password.
Do not forget your new password! This is the password you will now use for
all subsequent logins. Keep in mind that we do not know your password. You (and
only you) should know your CWSL password.
Changing Your Password Remotely
The Outlook Web App client allows a user to change his or her network
password remotely, from any computer with an Internet connection.
Go to CWSL's webmail system at
You will be prompted to enter your user name (full email address: email@example.com) and password.

3. You must enter your current password and your new password (twice for
confirmation), then click Save
If the password complexity requirements are met you will receive a message stating the password change was successful.
